Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I've developed an unexpected passion for landscape painting. One of my goals over the coming years is to establish myself as a painter of the American West. This landscape has become a tremendous source of inspiration for me, and when I think about Rehumanism, I believe that spending time outdoors and paying close attention to the natural world is one of the most meaningful ways we reconnect with our humanity. The best landscape painters remind us to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Their work, to me, truly feels like a love letter to the public. I spent this past weekend with my wife and her friend from Michigan exploring North Cascades National Park. I planned the trip carefully so we could experience as much of the region as possible, and we were fortunate to have incredible weather throughout. We stayed in a yurt tucked into the mountains, surrounded by beautiful scenery, and it reinforced just how remarkable the Pacific Northwest is. Within only a few hours of Seattle, you can experience an astonishing variety of landscapes, which is one of the things I love most about living here. In my post this week I’m sharing some of the photographs from the trip. As promising as they are, I'm not yet convinced I've found my reference for the next major painting. I have a few more trips planned over the next couple of weeks, and I'm hopeful that somewhere along the way I'll come across the image that feels undeniable. Until then, I hope you enjoy these glimpses of one of the most beautiful corners of the country. If you ever have the chance to visit, I couldn't recommend it more.
